Maren Morris' debut album, Hero, has been offically certified gold for sale of more than half a million copies, and she learned the good news backstage at Nissan Stadium before taking the stage at CMA Fest on Saturday (June 10th) night. Maren was in the press room talking with reporters when her label president, Randy Goodman, surprised her with the plaque.

Here's how it went down: “Are you firing me? (laughter) Oh my God! (Randy) Your album is now Gold. (Maren) Oh my God! (reporters clap) It's actually certified? (Randy) It's actually certified. Congratulations! (Maren) This is amazing! So people do buy records.”

Maren's past year has included several bucket-list moments, including winning a Grammy for Best Solo Country Performance for her single “My Church,” performing on the Grammys, which she said was the highlight of 2016, and most recently winning the Academy of Country Music Award for New Female Vocalist of the Year.
