The Zac Brown Band's namesake Zac Brown paid a special visit to a fan who was hospitalized after a diving accident. The Band was in Pennsylvania over the weekend for a show in Philadelphia on Friday (July 14th) when Zac agreed to pop in on seventeen-year-old Thomas Schoettle, who had tickets to attend the concert but is now paralyzed after diving into a swimming pool last month and suffering a fractured neck and bruised spinal cord. A family friend reached out to the Zac Brown Band via Facebook hoping to surprise Schoettle with a visit from his favorite act.
Zac made the trip to the hospital on Saturday (July 15th), much to the delight of Thomas who was stunned. Zac said, “I figured since you couldn't come to us, we'd come to you.” The two visited for about an hour, most of which was videotaped and shared on Facebook by Thomas' friends. People reports that the musician flew into the area by helicopter before heading out for the next show on the tour. The previous night, Zac dedicated a song to Thomas at the BB&T Pavilion concert.
Zac Brown Band's Welcome Home tour heads to the West Coast for a show on Thursday (July 20th) at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles.
