Next month's ABC-TV special, CMA Fest, will feature some special and surprising collaborations between Carrie Underwood and rocker Joan Jett; Kelsea Ballerini and The Chainsmokers; Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus along with Keith Urban; Brothers Osborne and Brooks & Dunn; Ashley McBryde with Brantley Gilbert and Lindsay Ell; Tim McGraw and Luke Combs; and Maren Morris and Brandi Carlile.

Carrie has made no secret of her penchant for rock music, and she tells us that Joan Jett has always been a favorite. ["Before I even knew anything about Joan Jett, just hearing her songs on the radio and the more I got to know and see just how much of a trailblazer she was for not just women in her genre of music but women in music in general, I mean, I'm a fan on every level, like personally, professionally, musically and (am) honored that she has heard my name before (laughs) and agreed to come sing with me."] SOUNDCUE (:28 OC: . . . sing with me.)

Additional performers on CMA Fest include Dierks Bentley, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Janson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Midland, Old Dominion, Pistol Annies, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Thomas Rhett and Brett Young.

Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini return to host the CMA Fest special for the third year together. The three-hour special will air on Sunday, August 4th at 8 p.m. ET.

CMA Fest was filmed during Nashville’s 48th annual CMA Fest held in June. The television special features more than 30 of music’s biggest acts as they hit the stage during the four-day festival.
