Lindsay Ell is working on her next studio album, the followup to her 2017 release, The Project. She's been writing as much as possible, even collaborating with famed singer, songwriter and producer Babyface.

Lindsay tells us exclusively that she and Babyface first met backstage at CMA Music Fest in Nashville last June. “Babyface came to watch me play at CMA Fest last year and I didn't even know that it was Babyface cause I was just walking on stage and I was saying hello to a bunch of people and I guess I just didn't recognize him, and so I go and play my set and then I'm walking off stage and my manager was like, 'Did you know that was Babyface?' I was like, 'What??' so I went up to him afterwards and I was like, 'Thank you so much for coming to my show,' and he was like, 'Dude, you're pretty cool! Like that was really cool. I'd love to write sometime,' and I was like, 'I would LOVE to write sometime,' and so, yeah, I got to go out to LA for a couple of days and write at his studio.”

There's no word yet on when Lindsay plans to release new music.

In the meantime, she's climbing the charts with “What Happens In A Small Town,” a duet with Brantley Gilbert featured on his upcoming album.
